Wolfbox install

This is what I have to play with from the OEM bracket.

If that ball fits the Wolfbox bracket then im
Golden, if not, I’ll glue on a fresh bracket to the windscreen.

Maybe I’ll get lucky?
This is a close up of the Wolfbox bracket from their website.IMG_8830.webp

If you read through the post I linked to, you’ll see the balls are different sizes. Cobble the Wolfbox Ball to the OEM window fitting. There’s photos showing how to do it.

I don’t have the same rear view ORM bracket as you. I have non sensors or anything. It’s a plain vanilla rear view mirror.

Ah yes, l’ve just looked at your photos a bit closer. I’ve put both types of knob next to each other in the image attached, and they appear to either be a different diameter, or the shaft to it is a different diameter.

Your knob won’t be solid, it’ll be hollow. I’d still Frankenstein your windscreen bracket and the Wolfbox bracket together.

Cut your knob and shaft off of your bracket. Cut the windscreen bracket off of the new Wolfbox mount leaving the shaft attached (as per my link).
Open up the hole inside your bracket to accept the shaft of the Wolfbox bracket.
Bond both together with araldite.

Hope that helps.

Tried the install today.
Abject failure.

I installed the rear camera onto the rear trim.
That bit went well at least!

I then started tracing the existing camera wire and quickly got stuck.

I traced it through the door gator to behind the light, I could see where it was spliced into the lighting wires to activate reverse mode, I could also see where it was spliced into another wire that disappeared into the van through the rear light hole, but then I was totally stuck on here it went.
It looked like it went down the side of the van, so I removed an inner panel, but there was no access to the wires.
I then removed some trim where the rear speakers are in the ceiling, I thought the wire may trace up into this area, I tried to thread some wire from the top left interior corner down the rear light, but I couldn’t get anything down far enough and I’m not even sure if that is a direct route down to the light. If it was, I could then potentially route the wire over to the other side where it would have been easier to get it behind some interior trim, but even then, I could not see how I could keep the wire hidden all the way to the rear view mirror.

So frustrating. I can’t see any route to the front of the van. I also can’t see how the existing rear camera was installed. I thought it would be just one wire, not sure why there are so many splices at the rear of the van.?

I then tried to trace the wire from the rear view mirror backwards, it sounded and felt like it went directly backwards and not along the front edge of the windscreen and through the A pillar.IMG_8837.webp

I can’t even think how a pro would install it. How do you get the camera wires around the poptop.

I should also say that the camera I did have was fitted after the van was converted, hence why I thought it would be simple to trace the camera wire from rear to front.

For those following, I went to my local VW specialist and talked over the install. I’m getting them to do it!! The camera routing is a pig, but they are confident and know the ways in which is can be routed.

I also found this thread which has a picture of a bracket from Steel Mate that works with the original VW screen mount and the Wolfbox bracket.

The steel mate bracket works a treat.

Next question.
Where do you all install the GPS unit?
Did you stick it on the dash or on the windscreen?

Can anyone help me with my Wolfbox install please. I've run the power cable to the cab area fuse box but when the stop start feature kicks in the mirror switches off and wont turn back on until I restart the van! Anyone know which fuse location to use?!?

Wolfbox Pro turned up today.
Is there an easy way of getting the wires down to the fuse box?
Once at the bottom of the A pillar, is there easy access into the fuse box for routing the wires?

I got this pic off the forum that I will use for reference (t6.1)

Can I ask which is the battery and which is the acc on this? do they both need to go in slots with fuses already in and then I just piggy back them? I’m knew to all this but thought I’d have a go myself.

I ran the cables down the passenger side A pillar, then removed the glove box and ran the cables to the fuse box. Can't remember which connection I used but when the stop/start kicks in, the unit powers down and won't restart until I turn the van off and back in again.

That’s no good then is it?

Hi I’ve just hardwired my Wolfbox in and when I turn the engine off it says “disconnect acc and trigger mode is activated” is this right?
Nevermind it’s going into parking mode apparently, all good.
