Windscreen replacement issues

Just had my windscreen replaced today by auto windscreens, not only did they cut my FM aerial cable but they let Stevie Wonder run the black bonding round the edge, so I’m now left wondering if it’s going to be water tight! Anyone on here a windscreen fitter that could answer my watertight question?
Cheers IMG_7073.webpIMG_7072.webpIMG_7070.webpIMG_7068.webp

Get the hosepipe out……no I’m not a windscreen fitter, if you’re waiting for one it maybe some time.
Looks like a shite job

Out of interest, how much did John Wayne (hope it isn't the fitter's real name) charge?
Do they still fit what seems to be sub-standard screens?
(I can only qualify this statement because many many years ago, having new windscreen fitted on an ancient car by them that lasted 1/10 of the time of the original screen before getting cracked again - possibly bad luck/youth driving skills!)

If I remember correctly, VW dealer told me it was about £800 a couple years back and shouldn't be driven till a few hours afterwards to let everything set properly. (T6.1 with heated screen/aerial etc)

It was replaced through my insurance, I had to pay £150 excess. Time will tell regarding the quality……..

Bad workmanship, should not be able to see the sealant like that in the rain channel.i would not be happy!

Dreadful work. When Autoglass replaced my windscreen a couple of years ago, they sliced through the microphone cable. I fixed that one myself but in your position I think I’d be dragging him back by his ear to do the job again, but properly this time.

Strewth. Id make the fitter prise it off with his teeth and redo it.

Any bodywork damage ? Same company did mine last year and it's taken a year of argument before I finally got paid for all the damage they did to my van. I won't ever let them near my van again

My son works for them and says it’s definitely a shoddy job they’ve done and to take it back. Out of interest, which depot was it?

No bodywork damage, taking my van back next week to see what happens next. Hopefully I won’t have to wait as long as you!

yes I’m definitely taking it back, it’s just a pain when you use your van for work, it’s finding time to go back. (Horsham branch)

Not my son’s branch fortunately. He says it’s down to the window being initially fitted out of position which then gets manually pulled/pushed into position leaving the bonding agent as an unequal bead all around.

Good luck with the return and hope they don’t argue the toss and do a far better job.

Autoglass did mine. The fitting of it was not as bad as yours. It was the product that they fitted that was rubbish. Mine is heated and they fitted some cheap thing. The element spacing was massive and it took an age to heat. After a lot of communication, my insurance asked me to get a genuine replacement fitted and they would pay for it. Had a local independent do this and they were clean, efficient and nice to deal with.
If you get no satisfaction from autoglass, just take the issue up with your insurance provider.

Interesting- I am insured with admiral and they only use autoglass for cars- for the van they used NWS who appeared to just do commercial vehicles.

LV are the insurers of our two vans and autoglass are the nominated repair company. They are utterly useless.
I will be seeking alternative insurance coverage at renewal as I will never use autoglass again.

Had mine replaced at VW a few weeks ago after deciding to swallow the cost. Had to raise the poptop for them and they kept it overnight to let it set properly. Cost was painful but it's a genuine screen and they did a top job.

A local windscreen outfit quoted £300 all in... and said it was a like-for-like screen. Tempting but not worth the risk.

I've got National Windscreens coming to replace my cracked screen next Tuesday, £90 excess paid today, 4.6 out of 5 on the TrustPilot scale, the booking/insurance system has been faultless.. we shall see!

I’ve had 2 replacement screens due to stone/ice chip cracks. The first was replaced by Autoglass, and the 2nd by some local outfit. I couldn’t fault either of them really, and can confirm that the heated elements on both worked fine.
How can you really be sure of OEM quality on a windscreen?

Good luck, they had mine off the road for over two weeks. Without an uplift on your excess it's wont be an OEM screen either.
