Windows Opening Themselves

Just gone out to the van and both front window were fully rolled down. It seems to have happened in the last couple of hours (I first went out a couple of hours ago to walk the dog and consciously touched the front screen to see if there was ice on it so would have noticed if they were down then) and during this time neither of us had our keys in pockets and/or anywhere else where they could of accidentally triggered the windows down function.

Any ideas?

Have found this myself on various cars, but usually its one of the things that you indicate it couldn't be, such as having the keys in trouser pocket and then sitting down. Even found the dog lying on the keys once in his basket, and the pressure had caused the windows to open.
Never found it to have happened without being able to explain it by not having the keys anywhere the button could have gotten trapped

Thanks @DaveyB - since found out wife's keys were in her handbag hanging under the stairs with coats - only possibility is that I disturbed her bag when hanging my coat back up and somehow activated the button - very unlikely but possible. I will monitor and see how it goes - just gives me something else to worry about and continually check!!

We had a Merc estate a couple of years ago with powered tailgate and a few times went out in the mornings to find the tailgate fully opened - never got to the bottom of that one.

One of my wife's colleagues at work went out at break to get something out of her car and found it sat there running with all the doors locked. She managed to get in but couldn't turn it off !! It had keyless entry and ignition so why it decided to turn on the engine when she was about 200 meters away with the key no one knows.. They had to get the RAC out in the end.

Mates vw caddy work van windows would open at anytime for no reason. Turned out to be water in the control module. Monitor it fella

Window opening by holding the unlock button on the keyfob can be disabled with VCDS.

I always have mine disabled as my keys are always in my pocket and often get crushed.

I can't remember the last time I locked a vehicle and left the windows open and/or wanted to open them before getting in so, if you can disable this feature, then I think that would be my preference - how do I do this?

Thats a really good shout, comfort closing is handy though but cant really see comfort opening getting much use
VCDS option is just for comfort option via keyfob so would disable both but would still work on lock cylinder for the odd occasion you forgot and left a window open

Lost me at VCDS!

The only thing I find it of any practical use for us when I leave the woof in the van. I use it to crack the windows the same amount all round. Again its an OCD thing in that I can't have one window open further than any other, I'd go in to full tilt. Yes I know, I have significant problems!

Oh and all the nice guys and girls on here as well :)

Oooh, cordless vacuum cleaner, now there is an idea, I can even charge it in the van once I get it back with all of its electrics installed.

Our little Dyson and all its tools sit nicely under the passenger seat.

My name's Dave.........and I drive a transporter! Thanks guys......I feel so much better for unburdening myself!

Reading all this is a massive relief, so it's not just me after all! I'm sure my neighbors are starting to think I'm a bit 'odd' as every time they see me I'm either washing or vacuuming the van...
