Why are the transporter key fobs so cr... rubbish.

Just wondering why the Transporter key fobs don't wear well.
The photo shows my Transporter key fob (on the left) 3 years old and 25k miles compared to a 10 year old and 80k miles Audi A1 fob. I was told by VW at last service thats normal. Are everytone elses that same and can a better quality one be bought as I'm thinking it might start to have problems with the buttons soon.

You can buy new shells on Amazon.
You can also buy the button pads separately too, that's how I refreshed my Golf keys.

I just use a silicon cover as it protects them as well.
I have dropped mine lots of times and they stay looking like new inside.
