Just found out my van has gone into build this week. It's a standard high line so I need to sort the bits I want to put on it. Will fitting 19" or 20" wheels on my new van affect the warranty?

I was told yes,but that's just one guy to another.......anything over 18 which is the biggest wheel from the factory.
Depends on whether your dealer is a plum too I suppose .
It's the reason I have kept my original rims

Fitting larger wheels will not totally invalidate all aspects of your warranty.
E.g. If you fit larger wheels and have a problem with your aircon then VW will have to honour the warranty.
But if you fit larger wheels and there us an issue that could have been caused by the wheels - gearbox for example - then VW might try to use it as an excuse and wriggle out.

My local dealer had a tricked up van in there showroom with 20" wheels on ,if you bought that van how could they say anything .

VW and the dealer are different legal entities.
So it may depend which entity you would expect to honour the warranty - VW or the dealer themselves.

Swiss Vans wont supply fitted anything over 18" due to the VW warranty not being honoured if anything goes wrong that VW can attribute to the wheels. They had a customer a few months ago with a gearbox issue, not sure what the outcome was.

That sounds like a man I know, DSG gearbox, 20" wheels, took 4-5 months to sort but VW Finance sorted it in the end and he was given a new van. VW Dealer / warranty were just blaming the wheels for the issue, only saved by finance team

Just keep the original wheels and swap them back if there is a warranty issue?...
