Wheel Finishes

Hi all.

I new to this and currently have 16" steel wheels on van, which has been lowered by 50mm, they will be replaced by 18".
What are the different wheel finishes?, e.g. alloy coated etc, as I understand that some of them do not like winter conditions
I assume steel are strongest, wont be easily damaged by hitting the kerb.
What are the pros and cons of other types
cheers

Steel will damage just as bad if you hit it, if not worse. Plus, kerb a steel wheel and it rusts within days, where as alloy doesn't.
Saying that, I love my steels, and so do loads of other steel wheel owners, most on Banded steel wheels, which your current 16's look awesome in.

Diamond cut/ polished don't like winters.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

In one sense the original steel wheels are ideal as they don't draw too much attention to the van, (hopefully this will keep prying eyes away), but I'd like something else.
What material are the Sportsline wheel made of?

Alloy.

You can buy them from the Forum shop here Alloys & Tyres

Tourershine - I love your wheels, where can I buy some and what size are they? I have 20" rims but I would like something smaller for towing my trailer.

Thankfully this style of wheel rarely comes up for sale 2nd hand, and most people that own these, seem to keep them.
Mine are 19" RR Banded steels.

You can either buy a set of used 19" Range Rover space savers, and have one of the Banded companies convert them (set for sale in sales section) or, you can buy them new from a Banded company. Mine are from Duchy Banded Steels, and he's done 4 sets between myself and @T6180. We can both highly recommend his work, and personally I wouldn't use anyone else.
They cost around £1500 finished and delivered, depending on your colour/finish, but also sell 2nd hand for similar money. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, the Banded 18" Amarok steels are around £900, and even cheaper, the 17" Banded at £700, lastly the 16" banded around £500.

What is a banded wheel?,

Thanks.
What is a banded wheel?,

In basic terms, it's where they take a steel wheel, cut it, and widen it to the desired width with steel, then weld it back together.

This shows you the basic process.
