Wheel and tyre set

Just bought my white transporter which is being converted. However they only fit black wolfrace 18" wheels and I really want white. Any idea where to get a comparable 18" wheel in white? I have a T6.1 T28 2.0tdi 102ps.

@smartiepants Have you actually seen a white van with white wheels? It’s very much a personal thing but my opinion is that it’s not a particularly good look!
That said, it’s your money so they should supply what you want, not their choice.

Yes I have seen them and its my preference as I will have coloured coded wheel trims fitted to match the van graphics. The conversion company buy in bulk from suppliers who don't have a white version hence why Im asking in here where I might find comparable ones to the Wolfrace. Ill buy them and the conversion company will fit and Ill pay the difference between those and the ones they usually fit if they are more expensive.

Of course I Googled it but being a woman who knows little about wheel specifications I wouldn't know what is comparable to Wolfrace. Hence why I joined this forum hoping to get some help not a comment aimed at belittling me.

There's a great thread on here explaining the terminology which you'll see about tyres and wheels, as well as issues such as load ratings, it might be helpful;

@smartiepants white wheels are very rare off the shelf. VW themselves did a white and chrome alloy for the transporter for a special edition they did around 2018 I think. An alternative is West Forged who make wheels to a lot of styles and colours but are very expensive. The cheapest way would be to pick the style of wheel you like and get them powder coated in white, shouldn’t be anymore than £100 a wheel. Do bear in mind that modern brake pads produce lots of dust that sticks to wheels until washed off. I have bronze wheels and after 100 miles or so they look dirty already.

The lady in my life finds the connotation that women being supposedly less able to deal will technical matters somewhat egregious.
No matter what your gender the relevant information can be found on the internet or directly from suppliers / specialists.

Oh dear Jon, look what you've started. I got in the shit for upsetting someone too. I had an item for sale, along with part of my postcode for collection. I got a message asking where SY7 was? I replied with "It's on Google Maps"

Hi @smartiepants and welcome to the forum.

On a different tack; do you like the style of the black Wolfrace that your converters supply/fit?

If yes, then maybe consider taking the black ones and then having them powder coated?

The powder coat finish should outlast that of the original Wolfrace wheel paint.

Just investigate reliable powder coat companies in your area.

Also, do you intend to find/supply wheels, or have the converters do so, and pay the extra?

If you don’t really like their supplied ones and you are going to search, then you would need to ask them for some details of their supplied wheels.
Besides 18” diameter it would be useful to know;
Wheel width,
Wheel ET (offset)

When searching for suitable wheels always try to use a site/supplier that asks for the details/registration of the vehicle.

Then you should be supplied new wheels that are suitable.

Hope this helps.

Edited small grammatical error. D’oh…

When I joined the forum and researched wheels and tyres (having been a car enthusiast for 30+ years) the new thing I learned was that commercial wheels AND tyres have to be load rated in accordance with the carrying capacity of the vehicle.

The van model T26, T28, T30 or T32 will determine the load rating of the alloy wheel and the tyre required. There should be a data badge under the bonnet giving the front and rear axle carrying weights. Take the higher and half it and this is the minimum rating for the wheel and tyre.

There have been numerous instances on the forum where companies have sold vans with tyres below the minimum weight rating for the vehicle which could put the driver in all sorts of bother - licence points / invalid insurance!

Colour is easy - just get them re-powdercoated at circa £60-80 per wheel (£40 in Birmingham - City Wheel Refurbishment!)
