Hi folks, just bought a 2016 Gen Six Caravelle, and the full make/model info on the sales invoice has a string of characters at the end. Can’t find any info on google, and searched the forum for these characters, but can’t see anything.

Any idea what this string of characters at the end means ?
Caravelle GENERATION SIX SWB EU6 204 PS 2.0 TDI BMT 7sp DSG 2016 SGMGH7/N6ARQ

They are the stock numbers from the salvage yard of the two vehicles that were repurposed to form yours. Unlike many that have a front mated to a rear, the tell tail sign that yours has had a top grafted onto a bottom is the slightly mismatched paint.

After a quick google, the bottom half is a recovered T5

Pay to become a VIP member then as well as the key to the executive washroom you'll be able to have the vin decoded. There is a method to the 17 digit madness and most of means something specific as to the vehicle type and exact spec.

Haha, ok, guess I should have posted this in the “ask a stupid question” section going by the first 2 responses.

I am a VIP member, just very new to VWs and this forum and wasn’t aware I could request that, but have done now, thanks…

No idea if that will tell me what SGMGH7/N6ARQ means but I guess I’ll find out.

I give up, but just partially answering my own question in case someone else is looking for something similar and sees this, thanks for your help …

SGM seems to be the model variant designating a passenger carrying vehicle
GH7 seems to be an internal VW identifier that apparently designates mnf year, engine, etc, but can’t find a definitive explanation for that specific code. It’s not a VAG code and I now know the engine is CXEB and gearbox is PSQ, so not that.
Still no clue what the N6ARQ is all about, not vag codes or engine/transmission code, but to be fair it was just on the sales invoice, so it may just be some dealership identifier or some such.

I’ll eagerly await the build sheet I’ve requested via the VIP section and see what that throws up.
