Well.... they hold up quite well don't they?!

This would be the unfortunate aftermath of hitting a stag, no not a Muntjac or a doe, at just 35ish mph, the air bags didn't go off and i was breaking at the time.... Couldn't avoid it, it jump out through a bush over the ditch at the side of the road.... it was sadly an instant kill, for both!

However, my beast is back alive and up and running, just got to go for a fresh mot as it expired whilst being repaired, cant wait to get it back, pictures to follow what's been upgraded at the same time, but essentially the entire front including radiators, lights body panels etc.20241021_165450.webp20241021_165507.webpIMG-20241020-WA0004.webp

Wow!

Almost hit one in the dark in my Brother's T5, didn't see anything until it flashed past in the side window.

You can be as careful as you like, but you can't avoid some things!

It’s no joke hitting a deer, particularly a stag. If you hadn’t stood on the anchors, I doubt you’d have been able to repair that. (TBH, you probably wouldn’t have been around to repair it either!)

There are a lot of muntjacs around our way. When I see one pop across the road, I always slow down to show my boys how a second one will pop out when it would have been too late for me to avoid it. 9/10 times the second one bounds out in front of me!

After only ever seeing them in Hampshire and Norfolk, they’re now appearing in Leicestershire!

With no natural predators perhaps as a nation we need to get more comfortable eating Bambi!

I know a chap who shoots a lot of deer all over the South East, often on a contract with whatever the Forestry Commission is called these days and I often buy some venison from him.
Venison is a healthy, tasty meat and it has lived as near to free range, natural life as you'll get in the UK.

Apparently the building of these vast new warehousing estates and housing estates is displacing wildlife all over the shop. I've seen deer walking down our suburban street in broad daylight (we overlook fields) and even our back garden. Lord only knows how they get in and out.

It doesn’t taste too good if it’s not bled and the guts are ruptured. Best left for the crows.

They have an incredible standing jump. Even the Muntjacs apparently.

On Arran, all the properties where they get Red Deer had deer fencing well over 6 ft.

Does he ship or can I collect from Shropshire?

No, his wife runs my local pub so he supplies the pub restaurant and when he's got surplus I buy five or ten pounds from him and freeze what we don't use straight away.
A few other regular pub customers also buy from him, it's just first come, first served, in the pub as and when he's got more than the pub needs.

I hope put him In the boot took him home and ate him ?
I got offered a whole deer from the gamekeeper yesterday.
Ended up coming down the road with a load of venison he had already butchered.
My pal took a dozen partridges as well. We get them for free these days. Away to be plenty pheasant on the go soon too.
I had a similar experience in my Subaru just after I had fitted a body kit to it.
Thick as shit deer.
Will head straight for you.
