did you ever solve this? I think I have the same, i run the heater manually from roof display or remote key all fine, then I drive off and i think the aux heater stops running. The result is very little heat from the heater when driving in cold weather unless fully preheated. when I stop driving the heater turns back on and continues with the timer.
there are no errors with VCDS.
I thought it was a coolant problem but I serviced that, I wonder if the coding I did was wrong somehow. I also used 5101.

think is solved this car was parked in cold garage, left it outside overnight to get propper cold and it kicked in this morning.
IDE00707 shows it running, was off when first started then after 5 minuets car realised it was cold and kicked in. If I then turn off auto on the climatronic, use recirculate air, manual blower choice and fan speed it starts pumping out some heat.
Will investigate if there's a recalibration function for the heater as really auto and high temp should do the same.
