Water passenger footwell and condensation issue! Help

Hi guys, new to the forum and only had my T6 about 6 months. So in the last month I’ve notice some water runs in the passenger footwell coming from up behind glove box and some moisture out the bottom of the pillar where the fuse box is. Also in the same timescale as the water in the footwell I’ve notice the screen has a lot of condensation every day and can’t help but think the issues are related. Now I’ve looked on various threads for info and have followed some advice like clearing the scuttle panel of leaves and I’ve also checked the AC condensation pipe by running the vehicle and checking in the engine bay that the AC drain is dripping out of the drain. I haven’t got roof bars fitted as I’ve read that could be another cause.

Wandering if you guys have any advice and can help shed any light on some potential fixes

Appreciated

Nathan

Even if you dont have roof bars fitted would be worth a look to see if one of the blanking screws has come out. I had this issue before I fitted bars as I was missing one!

Hi, did you find and fix this problem? We have exact same and tried everything but not solved it, have the dashboard stripped off so any help locating fix would be gratefully appreciated!

If the cab flooring has got wet underneath then it doesn't ever dry out without removing it completely.

When does it leak ? Rain, using aircon, etc.

Has anyone bought those 'magical' condensation bags that seem to be doing the rounds on Farcebook? Once full you pop them in the nukerowave and use them again.
Just asking for a friend...

Yes, I have one in the old Polo. That mists up when it's cold. I've has everything out to check for water ingress, but it's as dry as a nuns front bottom, so I'm at a loss as to what's causing it. The bag of grain does help a bit.

Context on the "tried everything", aircon drain pipe off and internal and external access flushed through, external pipe well and truly squeezed, coolant system pressure tested ok, scuttle plate and grommets cleaned out. Lower dash completely stripped off, evidence of drips behind fuse box and from box which is part of aircon pipe system (have attached some rubbish photos, camera access and focus is a pain).
The exact same signs of leaks as NBerry0 original photos appeared after leaving the van under wraps Jan - June, before that nothing. The van would have got very hot I'm guessing in that time, so maybe something in the aircon system got loose or a box unclipped???

I have one, but it's pretty useless. Also, ICBW, but I seem to remember there's a pretty low limit on how many times you can microwave and re-use.

Unnecessary purchase averted, thanks guys!

Keep in mind I don't know anything about these motors so could be completely and utterly wrong.

Firstly - just 100% confirm it isn't rain. (Hose the van all over the front half from roof to bonnet to wheel arches and windscreen and see what happens.)

Secondly - the internal aircon air filter is around there. If you left the van for several weeks unused, it is possibly the air filter 'crusted up' or otherwise became useless. Might be worth fitting a new one for the sake of £15ish and you don't need the anti-bac version unless you specifically want it. They should be changed every couple years anyway.

Thanks for helping, all well received 👍 and have been thinking exactly same lines, so yesterday ordered a new filter (the old one looked OK but definitely due a change), am about to jet wash and have a good look around now all the dash is removed. Will update.

So after a good hosing as suggested, no leaks so I think I am confident it is not a rain/external leak. Ran the ac for a good 30mins also nothing but then there is little difference in ambient so not surprised. Will keep digging as I am sure it has fixed itself, any suggestions welcomed! 😀
