Water Damage - Garage unit

Hi All,

Not sure if this is the correct area to post this but looking for some advice please.

It looks like water has got into the cabinet laminate, not sure if laminate is the correct term as it feels like paper now it's unstuck from the plywood, and it is now bubbling and peeling away from the unit itself. The damage is roughly 10cms high from the bottom running the full length of the unit (62cm). Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea of the damage caused.

I suspect it might have been a mud daddy I had left in the boot that has leaked and got into the unit, aargh! Thankfully it's in the boot area and under the bed area where the damage is so it's mainly out of sight and it seems to be dry now. Lesson learnt there.

I'm wondering how best I go about repairing the damage? Remove the damaged laminate area and cover the area with a similar style vinyl wrap? or maybe cover the area with a silver trim that matches the cabinet trim? I don't want to leave as is in case the bubbling spreads higher up.

Would it just be a case of running a stanley blade along the length of the unt and then pulling the damaged area away from the ply? Then cover the exposed area with either of the above?

I've contacted a number of campervan convertors or motorhome repairers to see if they would sort it but they aren't interested.

Help please

Is there any water damage inside the unit ?
My concern would be that more than the top layer is damaged.

Not from what I can see. The water that got into the unit must have been minimal because the carpet area wasn't exactly soaking, actually lucky if there was any dampness in the carpet. The other cause might have been as a result of getting the rear window tinted. A week after the work was done I noticed a foam like substance around the unit. It might actually have been that rather than the mud daddy that caused it.

Run an iron over the damaged area - put a tea-towel between the iron and the area you’re ironing if need be

Ironing solution didn't work unfortunately. Does anyone think removing the damaged veneer section and maybe replacing it with a silver trim (plastic or aluminium) would work? Not ideal but it shouldn't look too bad as it's mainly the boot space and under the bed. I'm not sure I want to leave it as is as there are white water marks and I don't want it spreading any further than it is.

Any other possible solutions most welcome :)
