Hi,
Got a reminder to book MOT in by email and in the email was this:

"Plus, if there’s any additional work required and you find it cheaper, we’ll price match it. "

Is this a new initiative?
Have they been reading this forum?
If you have used this price match - do they actually keep to it or is it a bit of, "we use VW fitters and VW parts so there is no direct price match". Just a little cynical.

This is one of my pet hates with insurance companies:-
“your renewal is £500”
“Is that your best price”
“It is sir, that’s our best offer”
“Ok, leave it with me and I’ll have a shop around “
“Oh! In that case, if you find it cheaper, please come back to us and we’ll price match it”
“No you won’t, you’ve just said this is your best price, so you’re either lying or you can’t compete on price, if I find it cheaper elsewhere, I’ll take it. Last chance is this your best price or not?”
“Let me speak to my manager……”

Yes - I love that.
But the manager says that he will get into trouble by offering that amazing price unless I take it right now. Very good samaritan. Going out on a limb for a complete stranger....
Should work for the AA.

I hear ya Salty, but it's usually the broker playing that particular game - the insurer offers the broker a net-rated product and the broker determines how much commission they take on top of that.

I agree, it's irritating as f..k, but it can work in your favour - I've known cases where the broker takes negative commission just so they can achieve the minimum numbers required to keep their account active with a particular insurer.

Legalised scam selling motor insurance! boils my piss this kinda shit !

Wait until you find a better quote and then when you ring the old place to tell to shove it they suddenly find some extra discount they can apply just to retain a loyal customer 🤬
