It's all a bit hit and miss I think, I bought quite an expensive one from one of the popular internet shops and within a year out in the weather it looked like I'd tried to set fire to it, all brown and weird looking.
Second one I bought off some tuning like shop on eBay and it seems to keep its glossy black finish a bit better so far but took a bit of effort to get all the tabs to click in place when fitting it.
I also think a gloss black badge with gloss black backing plate thing looks horrible so I wrapped the backing in matt black, maybe that's why the tabs didn't want to click in place as easy.
Got mine here. Been on three years plus with no issues. Not faded or cracked.

Edit to say FWIW I think these look OEM quality which I think is the main crux of your posted question. Agree, some out there do look a bit ‘Heath Robinson’ but certainly these (at least if they’re the same as I bought three years ago) should be pucker.
