I'm currently replacing my DC DC kit. Do I need to run an ignition live to the XS? I have one there as the Renogy kit needed one. But I'm a bit confused reading the installation manual

Cheers

I didn't and it works perfectly, unlike my old Orion TR30. Give it a try first on 'out of box' settings.

Up to you, you can run an ignition live, or you can use the voltage detection.

My van had the factory fitted 2nd battery so already had an ignition live which was as simple as anything to connect (literally one wire into the H remote port) and I've never had to worry about any settings.

Obviously this does mean it turns on and off with the stop start but there is a slight delay before the Victron powers up after the engine is started.

If you've got it, I'd say use it - it just makes it so simple.

I had mixed results using the voltage detection. I now use an ignition live & it’s solid. I prefer to know that it’s working, rather than leaving it to the pixies.
If you already have an ignition live present, I’d use it.

Ok so I'll use it but do i leave the bridge in complete or just the H port fed from the ignition? Can't do anything until I get the Cerbo and battery shunt mounted tomorrow as if I read correctly i need to leave the bridge out when I connect the Orion up for the 1st time. And currently my LB etc is all disconnected as the Cerbo and shunt are being mounted in the seat base with the LB in

As far as I remember that's right, leave the bridge out as that ensures it's on but not powered on. Then when you want to connect the ignition live, put that into the H side of the bridge and re insert into the Orion.

That little bridge of wire is basically acting as a switch, if the loop is complete it's switched on.

the XS works fine on both my vans with the Auto detection. . .

you can tweek the settings in the APP to get the sweet spot for your setup. . .
