Victron Orion XS low current conundrum

Would appreciate any insight here? Thanks

New install. Only getting 10amps charge. T5.1 2013 Non smart alternator (120amps I think). Orion XS to Roamer Smartpro4 160ah battery. Orion settings at 40 Amps output. 10 amps at idle, decreases when increase revs to 2000 rpm or so. Trying to workout why?

2mt approx 16mm2 from starter battery to Orion via a Mega fuse & Blue Sea 6006 Isolator

Voltages:
Starter Battery 14.29v
Starter Battery mega fuse output (by battery) 14.28v
Engine battery isolator switch - not checked yet
Orion XS In terminal 12.97v
Orion XS Out terminal 14.36v
Roamer Smartpro4 160AH BMS says 13.04v @ 62% capacity
Victron Smart Shunt agrees with above (ish)

This points to excessive voltage drop, maybe a dodgy crimp. How would that affect current please? Could it be anything else please?

Also wont charge at all with Engine shutdown detection enabled on Orion. Said Engine off, so had to disable to get anything. Is that also due to voltage drop?

This is the problem.

Too low input voltage.

Either cable too thin. Or bad crimp/ connection.

What's the Neg cable like?

Post pics of the wires and connectors

Forget the engine shutdown detection for the moment, the question you need to answer is why the orion xs voltage output is reading 14.4/14.36V if the smartpro says 13.04 V. How are you losing 1.3V? The xs has moved from bulk mode to absorption mode and hence lower current as it thinks it's reached the correct voltage.
I don't suppose you have the xs input and output the wrong way round? Starter battery should be to xs input.

Thanks! Suspect its the crimps in the Bluesea isolator. Not thought about the neg cable. Will check that as well.

Thankyou. I will check that.

ahem....nothing to see here (set to 40A) 😁 Also Engine shutdown detection now enabled and working fine. Thanks both for taking the time to suggest things. Massive help.

Yeah thanks I really need this working as am away for 2-3 weeks on Thursday and my solar panel is dying. So a big relief!
