Victron mppt 100 issue

Hi,

I have an issue with victron mppt I'm hoping someone on here might be able to help with.

It looks like I'm getting nothing from the solar because the victron app is showing my leisure battery as at 14.2v so it's currently stuck in a state of absorption. The battery was actually pretty flat before I set off for the weekend and I couldn't understand why until now. It's currently showing as 12.5v on the victron dc-dc and roamer app. A m I right that this is what the issue is? I've included a screenshot of the app. It looks like it's been happening for weeks now. I never noticed as my last trip was weeks ago and I was on campsites for most of it.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

Cheers David

Top right you can see the settings cog can’t you go into the drop down menu and alter it.

Cheers mate I'll try that. I guess I need try and find a fix so that it starts reading the leisure battery charge status correctly too.

I’d check the actual voltage at the MPPT input from the leisure battery with a multimeter first to see what the truth is. Also from tne panels. Then check all the settings are correct - battery type etc. If that doesn’t point to something then go for a reset.

Then disconnect panels then the LB. Then reconnect the LB (this must be done before the panels), re-check/reset everything on the MPPT then reconnect the panels. Hopefully that will reset everything.

Thanks for replying.... unfortunately I don't have the tools to do those checks myself, I'm crap at that stuff anyway so likely to go to a real guy for that 😀

I think I know the true reading as the Victron Dc-dc, roamer app and the van control panel are all showing the same leisure battery reading.

Do you think I should just try resetting the mttp app and see if that sorts it. I'm guessing that's done via the app and it's not going to break anything? 😬

The multimeter is a nicety at this stage, all you need is a screwdriver. Worth getting a multimeter though for this sort of thing, they are under a tenner from Screwfix, Amazon etc. Loads of YouTube videos to show you how to use it.

The reason to check the voltage is because something isn’t right. The MPPT is showing a min battery voltage of zero which seems to indicate a wiring issue to the leisure battery. It should show the leisure battery voltage when there is no solar (at night) so should be showing 12.5v ish last night. So, check the connections from the leisure battery to the MPPT, but first disconnect one of the solar cables with a screwdriver. Tuck the end safely away and cover with tape so you don’t accidentally short it. Belt and braces is to cover the solar panel with a blanket or cardboard to stop any current.

Then check the LB connections and reconnect/tighten any that are loose. Then check the MPPT is working and set to the correct battery preset (lithium or a custom Roamer one if it’s been set up like that). Once that’s all done reconnect the solar.

Take your time and make sure you put the right cables in the right sockets!

Edit - some pics of the MPPT and LB connections may help us diagnose. Also pics of MPPT app settings pages. And Roamer.

What he said.

Prob a bad battery connection.

Or blown lb fuse.

Switch off the MPPT charger in the app.

Then check the voltage at the battery terminals on the MPPT.

Yeah I would check the wee blade fuse on the MPPT. It is fitted to the left of the power leads towards the back. Can just see the back and fiddly to remove. Can easily see if the copper inside is separated

(That's what it was on my MPPT 100 when was showing volts but no current)

I honestly wouldn't feel comfortable doing any of that., I'd much rather go to someone that knows what they are doing.

Here are a few more images of all the other app readings, the mppt Itself and the battery settings on the victron app.

Also this might be relevant, the Victron Orion xs was playing up yesterday when I was on the road. It was stuck on no charge because the engine shutdown detection thing had kicked in. I had to go into the app settings and turn that off for the dc-dc to kick in. Will turn that off break anything 😀

I suspect you are all right re a fuse or something being blown.

Apologies. My fuse location was based on my 100/20. Your 100/30 looks different. Not sure where the device fuse is. I would still check it though.
