Vehicle Battery Confusion

Hi all, hoping to pick your brains and get thoughts and advice. ( my knowledge of electrical circuits is about zero ).
Picked up professionally converted first ever camper last week fitted with Sargent EC155 Power Control System and EC50 display. On inspection at home the vehicle battery displayed amber on the EC50 but green on the leisure battery. Had the vehicle battery tested with the recommendation being to replace. New battery put in and initially both batteries showed green. However, following morning vehicle battery again seen as amber.
I’m having it checked to see the state of the new battery and charging rate and to see if anything is draining it.
My main questions are a) anyone else experienced similar and b) am I being paranoid and is an amber display the norm for the vehicle
battery ?
Many thanks for any comments

T6 with Smart (ha!) alternator?
The van will charge the starter battery only up to 80% (leaving 20% for regenerative braking charge for Stop/Start)
Welcome to the nightmare that is modern vehicle charging systems...

How are you charging the leisure battery? Just off the Sargent or do you have split charge relay/DC-DC charger to charge the leisure battery whilst driving?
Was the new vehicle battery coded in by the dealer/battery supplier/garage or just fitted and nothing else was done? Same type/manufacturer/capacity as the original or different?
There are SO many things to consider nowadays with battery changes.

So, with a T6 with stop/start required either an EFB or an AGM starter battery (regular lead/acid won’t cut it nowadays)
If the type of battery is changed, the ECU needs to be recoded to let it know what charge profile it needs to employ.
With the van only charging the starter battery to 80%, the old split charge relay system will not work, the leisure battery will not get a full charge if only charged using the engine/alternator, so a DC-DC charger is required.
If you charged the leisure battery off mains supply via the Sargent then drove the van, but didn’t use any of the leisure battery charge, then you can expect this disparity between the two.
Need to find out if you have an engine fed charge path otherwise you will be reliant on mains hook ups wherever you go if using the leisure battery for any length of time.
