VCDS - where do I start.

Morning all,

I'm getting my hands on VCDS today to try and understand my Van issues. I've had a whole host of fault codes come on and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it.

Below is what I'm looking at. They don't all come on at once but EGR Excessive flow seems to be the most popular.

P0236 - Turbocharger/supercharger Boost Sensor "A" Circuit.
P2279 - Intake Air System Leak.
P13D6 - Glow plug 3 pressure sensor.
P0401 - EGR flow insufficient detected.
P0402 - EGR Excessive Flow Detected.
P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem

Initially, I'm hoping to use VCDS to track and log data but I could do with some advice on where to start. I'm assuming I need to jump into the Engine module and select some of the outputs pertaining to the faults I'm seeing above?

My advice is don’t go too deep too soon

The first thing you absolutely must do it take a full scan of the van and save it somewhere as your base scan before any changes etc (I would also do a full admap scan for good measure)

Next thing to do is clear all the error codes and see what comes back, then you can start trying to troubleshoot issues

Just remember faults are passed between control modules so often one fault will show in several places, as a general rule ignore any faults that complain about missing messages and that’s just a reference to faults elsewhere

If you need any help just start a new thread in the most relevant place and put some details along with a full unedited scan of the van
