I need a bit of help I am getting a persistent error from the roof mounted heater screen 6E which says control module EEPROM Error 014 - Defective.

I have installed the roof display and telistart into the cars wiring loom. I added the screen to the CAN Gateway(19) installation list using VCDS. I then cleared the codes and rescanned the car (engine running) all other errors seem to be clear but this error keeps returning.

The screen displays the time but non of the buttons do anything.

Should i press on with changing the coding on the Heater and do the heater firmware update or is my roof top screen defective. It was bought used from a breakers yard.

Obviously it is somehow defective. Interestingly the fault priority is fairly low so possibly there is some functionality still alive. Perhaps you could try to change and save some settings (mode, heating time, timer) via the panel to see if the changes get saved (into the EEPROM). And, with some luck might even iron out the fault

You can run the heater with the remote controller just fine.

Unfortunately the panel buttons are totally unresponsive.

Thanks for your feedback, I will press on with project and change the auxiliary heater settings, maybe I get lucky.

For now I’m Struggling to get Odis 11 running on windows 11.

Thanks again

I completed the retro fit the remote, telestart and heater work but the screen is still unresponsive. It can switch heater on and off but there are no other options .

Is there a way to reflash the screen using Odis E? I have the feeling the screen is still holding the configuration from the donar vehicle.

okay back again......

I replaced the roof top screen and still get the same error. it must be something other than the screen. I can't be so unlucky as to buy 2 faulty screens.

here are the 2 scans side by side

comparison between 2 screens.webp
I must have done something wrong. but what could it be?
