Van-x Illuminated side steps

Evening all,

So I bought a full set of Van-X illuminated steps for the van.
My question is as I’ve had a pop top fitted where is the best place to pick up a 12v feed for them from?
Would I be best to use the interior cab lighting or is there somewhere else more local to the doors?

I’m hoping someone might have responded to this as I want to do the same…

The loom for the “original” interior lighting is above the sliding door (if you’ve only got one). So my plan is to find the wires, split the loom and come down the B pillar under the step. But it would only come on then when the doors opened through a timer, which is what I want to be fair.

Don’t know if that how people have done it before though?

My other idea was there’s a load of unused electrics under the passenger seat (mines a T6.1), which I’ve shoved under the floor as I’ve put a swivel plate in… but thinking I could go through those with a multimeter and find a live. Only a short run then to the light.
