Van Furniture Self Build Issue

Campervan light weight ply such as Morland board is 15mm thick. Single lip and double lip t-trim is 18mm wide. The 2mm slot should be central. I keep a sample of board with the slot cut in my router box to check slot cutter depth is correct each time I use it, as I dont have a dedicated slot cutting router like most pro convertors do

Obviously the supplier here may be using different board/t-trim.

Had another email from Van Furniture this morning and they have said the slot is in the right place as that positions the T trim in the right place for the outer edge so it will need to be cut by hand.

I’m quite disappointed with this as it seems like a lazy quick fix to an obvious design issue and not really the level of quality I was expecting

My evomotiondesign furniture has machine glued edging in those kinds of ends as there is then no overlap beyond the 15mm width of the panel at all.

Trimming T-Trim is straight forward using a v sharp stanley knife and shallow cut using the board as a guide. I like to clamp a length of alu L-profile to the panel with the edge at the same height, or v slightly lower, than the board face.with the T-trim sandwiched in between so I get a more consistant straight trim then and no wavey lines, but thats because I am useless doing things by eye

For the price of the units that's very disappointing and sounds like a bit of a bodge. Definitely looks like it should have 15mm knock-on trim, not 18mm.
