Tyre Air Compressor - Engine bay installation

Hi guys,

In my African kitted Toyota hilux I have an ARB Air Compressor installed in the engine bay. This is used for inflating/ deflating the tyres as needed; not for suspension.

Has anyone permanently installed an air compressor in the T6 Engine bay? If yes, what brackets/ compressor did you use?

I see the beautiful Hess T6.1 van has an onboard compressor installed for the Air Ride suspension, so I'm thinking something along the same lines.

I will be installing an ARB compressor yes. I have one back home in South Africa and doing a trip there mid Feb. so when I get back I’ll look for a good location and fabricate a bracket for it…

Think it might be tight in the engine bay so will likely go underneath

I was looking under the hood and it seems that there is enough space on the right from the Air filter, but I there is the fabric and I dont know how sturdy the metal underneath is to mount it to it. I would like to have it in the engine compartment too as I already have a every corner of the inside filled with custom furniture. It would be nicer to have a reliable solutin from europe as ARB uses different standard of hoses to Europe and if your ARB hose is lost or damaged, then you will most likely not find any replacement in local stores.

In today’s world of couriers, the standard you choose does not really matter. Parts can be ordered from almost anywhere. I also have an Indeflate system, which lets me balance air between two tyres and inflate both at the same time.

For my setup with the 150 hp CXFA engine, the space in front of the battery next to the coolant reservoir is sufficient to fit the compressor, which is my intended location. It would also be easy to fabricate a mounting bracket there.
