Turbo or DMF?

Hi all, bit of advice really as have a few options.
VW Caravelle 205 2016 Engine replaced by VW approved garage June 2024 80% paid by VW, remainder by warranty. One of the lucky ones. Going well untill sounding rough when driving and idle, going into limp mode frequently. Resets when ignition off. Took it back to garage who said it was DMF and replaced and serviced at £2000. Collected van and a day later same symptoms. They checked fault codes which said Turbo vacuum. Now have amber engine light. My issue is that it didn’t fix my initial reason for booking it in, they have said they will diagnose it for free, but suspect they will say new turbo. Stated my case with the manager as original issue unresolved. Yet to see if this will help with final cost.
Any advice?

I'd ask for my 2 grand back if the work they recommended didn't fix the problem.

Too many garages get away with randomly firing the parts cannon at the customers expense instead of doing a proper old fashioned diagnosis, probably because proper mechanics instead of techs/fitters are a dying breed.

VW dealers get away with the min will do, lets wing it approach. Retro Resus when I was paying for a new crate engine etc I was told: VW crate engine and new or recon turbos, dmf, if rebuilding add EGR and maybe inj.
