Turbo not right

Just a thought could the Remap contribute to all of this?

I’ve hunted all over, smoke tested, pressure tested, replaced all seals etc I’ve had a stephacope on the turbo there’s no odd sounds on either side theres no play on the shaft.

When I did the turbo I got rid of the DPF adblue and the EGR it was taken from 102 to 147bhp

Could it be the map?
You just answered my previous question, almost undoubtably so depending on how you drive it. More power requires more fuel, more exhaust gases, higher turbocharger RPM.
Less reliability, keep on top of the oil changes.

Done smoke tests mate nothing at all. It was a brand new original garret vw turbo mate identical to the original same part no the lot.

I don’t think my actuator is actually adjustable it doesn’t look the the single turbo has the nut
Hey @mmi what’s your thoughts buddy?
Correct - per workshop manual there is nothing to adjust.

Couldn’t upload a video so here’s a YouTube link
Is it the IDE00457-Test of turbocharger you are using to generate the whining (at standstill) on video?

Did you log any data during the test to share? E.g. as below

Please post engine blockmaps
1) ignition on, engine off
2) engine idling

How-to create a blockmap file:
[VCDS]
[Applications]
[Controller Channel Map]
- Single Controller Address = 01
- Login or security access code: Leave blank
- Function: Measuring values
- Output: CSV file
[Go]

The result (CSV) files are saved into directory C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs

I did use that but never captured data will do so today mate

Seems to be quite an old file - dated 9, July, 2025

New turbo fitted last year done about 1000 mile and now I’m worried.
So this thread is a continuation of the New turbo calibration and New turbo calibration

The turbo adjustment seems to be still well within spec. Also no excessive pressure generated during the test.

Now the turbo generates normal pressure during the test as opposed in test last year

Don't think so as at the test the turbo is anyways squeezed to the max (what's achievable at those revs and without load).
Of course you could choke exhaust to see if increasing backpressure (a kind of emulating DPF) would make any difference.

I’ll give that a go this morning. I may have uploaded the wrong file as the logs from last year will be on my computer still is the data I sent all you need? I’m guessing if I block the exhaust and the sound goes then it’s just the new sound of the van without DPF? I’m going to book an MOT this week then if we are all functioning as we should be.
