Trailer board lighting

Thinking about wiring for tow hitch on T6 kombi when it occurred to me that I successfully hard wired in an extra led under bumper reversing light without any error warning. So therefore why couldn't I swap out all my trailer board lights for led and simply fit a piggyback loom to the rear light cluster, as I could with my two previousT5s? Appreciated if anyone can advise whether that would work or why not. I do have reversing sensors in bumper so realise that a coding matter re tow hitch would need to be sorted.

If you're going to hack into the wiring then you'll have nothing to code.

Thanks for the advice on coding but not sure if you mean the potential for light error warning or the reversing sensors. I've just considered that the piggyback looms and plugs which you can buy to take leccy to tow hitch socket from T5 rear light clusters may not fit the T6 rear light cluster multi-plugs. Anybody know?

if you don't fit a proper canbus module you will have nothing to code and will lose out on many features. depends what youre using the bar for as to whether it will be an issue.

Just need it for a tow bar bike rack so wondering if I can buy a T5 wiring kit that wilL piggyback to T6 lighy units and change the rack bulbs to led to avoid error earnings.
