To cold to camp?

Got to say this and I'm not being rude.
If you have to ask this question, then yes, it will be too cold.
If this is one of your first trips, then wait a month or even 2 (if you are in UK) for the weather to warm up before experimenting with your kit. It usually takes a few trips (camping/vanning/expeditioning/hiking/cycling or whatever you are in to) to figure out what gear YOU (not anyone else) need/want/prefer.
As I said - not being rude and don't mean to put you off, but start off relatively gently rather than jumping into the deep end. You'll enjoy it more and your camping companions will appreciate it more than trying to rough it (depending on what they are into).
(for instance, my missus used to insist we bring a proper mattress with us - in a tent!!!!!! whilst before we met, I used to go around with whatever I could carry - not a lot - and am wondering how I managed to survive to write this post)

on-board with the whole 'vanning experience, but the OP initially specified an impending work trip, so advice was given (certainly mine was) on the basis of a time-fixed, solo jaunt. If you've only got yourself to please, then it's certainly doable... less so when there's someone whining constantly that they're freezing their ****s or their ***s off.No offence taken, sound advice if the Mrs was coming than I'd agree 100%. But as its travel for work, and its one of the purposes of buying a van (other than spending weekends with 'you all' in my dryrope) I'll push on to my Maiden voyage with the good advice received from you all..some of my favourites

Heater suggestions (and a bonus of Purchasing a heater thats tried and tested)
We use a electric throw over the top of our double sleeping bag, always toasty at night on a mid setting, but we turn heater on in the morning, don’t buy a cheap Amazon blanket, get a decent one

Could just have laid on top of the cloths or rolled them into a pillow or even shoved them down the bottom of the bag. Nice and tidy mind.

I do have a heater in mine but never use it. I prefer to camp in the winter as I find it easier to warm up in my van. The warmer months can sod off as I cannot stand to sleep in what feels like a blast furnace!
You’re better off with an electric blanket. Best £20 we’ve spent camping gadget wise.
Aldi or Lidl are your best bets.
I’ve slept comfortably in my insulated van in winter with regular bedding (duvet not sleeping bag) on an electric blanket, on top of a 10cm self inflating mattress. This is all on a bed platform so off the van floor.
My main advice if your aren’t fitting a proper diesel heater is to focus on warming yourself instead of the whole van. An electric blanket will draw much less power than any other electric heater so you can run it much longer on a battery bank.
Obviously if you have EHU then an oil filled radiator or a fan heater can work and make the whole van warmer.

I haven’t tried this but I have tried 200w of fan heater and found it to be a bit pathetic. I’m not convinced 60w will do much in the volume of a van. I’d love to be proved wrong though if someone has experience of them.
Cheers. Ya if I'm i the van alone I'm generally wild camping and won't need any extra heat but if I'm with the wife and kids it's always going to be a campsite so power won't be an issue. I have a small oil radiator so will prob just bring this but thought a tube heater might save space and could be permanently installed and out of the way.
