Thoughts over this Campervan being worth the advertised price?

Hi,

It would be great to get some thoughts on whether this van is good value for money. I have been to see it and have driven it, everything seems in good working order and the conversion looks great quality. I am just questioning the mileage and age of the van. Also how important do you think Euro 6 is?

As a relative newbie to VW's, although I have done a lot of reading about, it would be great to get thoughts from more experienced people. Description is below and here is the link for the van VW Campers For Sale Uk | 2016 Vw Transporter t6 | Facebook.

Thanks in advance.

That's odd, unless they mean 240v instead of 16v

Split charger also worries me. If that's a smart alternator van (and if it's a Euro6 it should be) then that's not the right charging system.

Do you have any pictures of the electrics?

Hi, no pictures but I could ask for them. It isnt a Euro 6 if this makes a difference? What should I be looking for with the electric. Thank you for your response.

I was told split charger by my converters but when I queried and spoke to the electrician he’s fitting a Victron Orion DC - DC unit. Maybe a similar (& not very good) description by the converters but definitely worth checking

For that sort of money I would definitely be looking for a Euro 6 van. More and more cities are bringing in restrictions and charges and that’s only going to increase year on year.

What should I be looking for with the electric.
A lot of folks come to the forum with issues where conversions have been done on smart alternator vans with inappropriate split charge systems.

The leisure electrics can make or break your enjoyment of the van so it's always interesting to see what has been fitted. As it's one of those out of sight things that most buying their first van don't appreciate the importance of it's an area where corners can be cut.

I'd be looking for
Quality branded battery of a suitable type
Quality branded chargers and accessories
Appropriate cable sizing and fuses
Neat and tidy wiring practice
Easy access to fuses etc for maintenance (they always go at the worst times, not good if camping 200 miles from your toolkit to take the wardrobe to bits)

Thanks. I think this is what I have been considering too and probably a bit of a breaker in the deal (if all the other advice holds true). What is your opinion on the price for mileage and year?

Cheers

Great cheers, appreciate the advice. I will have a more thorough look at these parts and ask more questions! Thanks again

Have you been on the dubbed up campers website? I’d guess that the guy selling it on FB is from that company as the pics of the van are taken in the same place as the pics on their website. Also he has previously sold a few converted vans on FB with pics from within dubbed up’s premises.
The conversion looks nice with some nice added touches and edge banded doors etc. if the van works for you then the price is all relative.
I converted my 2017 myself and it owes me about the same as that van, so for a brand new conversion maybe it’s not that far off.

A little further digging will show that the seller is the director of dubbed up campers.

Just to echo the previous poster, I bought a 2018 startline panel van with 100k on and converted it myself. While I haven't quite finished and haven't been brave enough to add it all up yet, it will definitely have cost me somewhere in this ball park.

Hi, just to clarify. There are 2 companies, Dubbed Up Campers and Dubbed Up Conversions. It reads as if you are talking about just on. One in Wrexham, one in Wetherby.

Unless my eyes deceive me (quite likely these days) it looks like knock on trim to me.

Yes Jon it’s dubbed up conversions. Mix up on my part. Nice to have the pedant back on the forum.
I’ve edited it now. lol

You might be right about the knock on trim. But the doors have 90 degree corners which don’t work with knock on. Maybe they are just bare ply edges? Hard to tell as the pics aren’t too clear on FB.

Sorry for the stupid question, what is knock on trim?

Cheers for the reply. Yes been on there website and looks like they do a good job of the conversions, and the seller comes across really genuine. Thanks for guidance on the price bracket being about right. I think in my head I was wanting Euro 6, and a couple of years newer van with highline spec (obviously expecting it to be more expensive) but when this came up it ticked a lot of boxes.

I’m sure you would be able to get a Euro 6 within your budget, but it’s down to how long it takes I guess. And if it’s private then you have no comeback. At least this is something with warranty and all the servicing done and stuff.
Only you know if you can manage without the euro 6 for ulez etc.
