This time around, day van that can double as a camper

A few months back I decided to sell my previous camper and start all over, simply because the previous build was pretty much 'off the shelf', and while it was done well, much of it was unused. I guess a day van fits my needs better.
I decided thats as the vast majority of the cooking was done outside, or in the awning, the kitchen wasnt a necessity, nor were all the cupboards. After finding a decent donor van, a late buld kombi, the initial plan was to use the rear sets and go down the forty winks bed route, however after a visit to a local convertors he showed me a mobi frame bed and floor and I was sold on its versatility. The van went in late March and hoping to get it back next week.

So far its had the kombi seats and flooring removed and sold.
Insulation and carpet lining, a 12 v electric system with a 300ah battery built into its own battery box that fits underneath the mobi frame just! For lighting as its a SWB van decided to go with 4 touch spots so I can have all lights on, or individually as needed, alongside other 12v appliances, Things have been delayed slightly while the 12v side is generally OK, because it has a bluetti charger2 and the van has a smart alternator a D+ cable is needed, Bluetti in their wisdom are not making these available until June, so the relevant connectors have been sought, so the cable can be nmade up, and are due to be fitted Tuesday next week. For the 240 side of things I will either use a hook up, a power bank, or could go back to the original plan in the future adding an inverter.

a few pics from the build

Shame it wasnt ready for the weekend, but looking forward to getting it back.

Can't quite get my head around this but you sold the last camper because it was too good at what it was meant to do?
Regarding 300Ah and 4 touch spotlights in the new van you're not going to cook in, what do you need the other 299 Ah for?
Don't get me wrong a lot of people won't cook in their van and noticing the fragrance/smell/stink of our Thai green curry from Thursday night when folding the poptown down earlier this morning was a reminder of why

I think you’ve done a cracking job, just play with it.

Those mobiframe beds are amazing, I fitted the narrow three seater in my new conversion as well. I have the 120 cm Duvalay on mine and it works a treat.

Is there a reason you went for such a large lithium battery? I found a 105 lithium fits under the passenger swivel and it’s more than enough for my needs.

Are you fitting an overnight heater? I found it makes the biggest difference to mine for usability.

I also fitted a drawer fridge underneath my bed, and it’s a massive space saver

Thanks.
Initial plan was a smaller battery, but was upgraded by converter, also because I'm not going down the solar panel route at the moment wanted it to be able to cope if I wanted to go 'off grid' for a short while. While I'm going to use a power bank for the interim, theres a possibility I could swap that out for an inverter in the future. On top of that now, the portable fridge didnt work out as hoped, so going for a fixed Dometic fridge, built into a small pod, possibly a smaller portable 12v freezer, If I feel there is a need.

We've got a ghetto DIY 230 Ah Roamer seat base battery, a 2kw inverter, two 175 watt solar panels and a Renogy DCC50S b2b/mppt charger for input charge so as long as there's some sun or we drive occasionally we have 12vdc or 230vac on tap.
With 300Ah you could run a 3kw inverter but with all these big numbers and no solar input you're burning fuel to top up your leisure battery.

I get what you're saying, I've not said no to solar, but if i do, i'd probabaly be looking at fixing a rigid panel to the crossbars on the roof, at the moment its finding what works best, and leaving it open
