Think we gonna need a bigger boat

We are looking at 6m vans so mwb, there’s even some 5.4m vans that have the layout we want but it seems a lot of bother selling and buying for 0.4m so we are 6m as the sweet spot (minor additional point; LWB won’t fit on the drive)
We dont have the space for the 6m vans so 5.4m we would be looking at. But for us it would be with the L2 high top roof that would more important.

Some casual observations on MAN TGE ( ours being a MWB)
1) It is less wide than the Fiat offerings, but the pods fitted by the converter work really well - and I am 6ft tall so the bed is transverse. We do have cupboards above which initially I thought I would bash my head on continually, but muscle memory is a great thing and it is not a problem.
2) Possibly due to being less wide it is a very driveable vehicle and in some ways I think is better than the T6.
3) Bed is roughly half way between floor and roof so allows for massive garage space below. A set of stools to assist getting up to bed works fine.
4) We don't have a loo or a shower ( major reason for having a custom build) so gain the space that is otherwise lost when you size up. Cupboards and storage space aplenty. We are always in campsites, and far rather have someone clean loos and provide hot water rather than trailing the sh*t suitcase up to empty. If push came to shove, I'd have a separate bog tent and chemiKhazi. We do have hot water and an external shower fitting in addition.
5) You can fit a bread maker in. Oh, and did I mention the coffee grinder as well?
6) No pop top, so have A/C. Thank goodness..

Point 1. For some reason I love sleeping transversely so like you this would be No1 on our list too.
Point 4. is a major one for us too, and I could not agree more with your point of view. So much space used up, and the van looks far more spacious without. Also as one chap said recently when he had a shower in his last van. I went through so much water so no shower in my next van.

Best of luck with it.

4.5L is easily achievable. Get wet, stop the water, get soapy, start the water and rinse off.
We did a month on a yacht in Mexico a couple of years back. Fresh water was at a high premium. A shower every other day. We used one of the 10litre solar showers (great kit, we have one in the van) 2 of us got a good shower using 10l of water. Like you say, wet/soap/lather/rinse.

I think we have some work to do on personal hygiene packing.

Me - bar of soap, bar of deodorant, razor & toothbrush.

Toothpaste / shave gel shared.

SWMBO - three bags of potions etc! 1 bag not been opened!

Edited to say my hair style doesn’t need any special / additional products!

Clothing is the other thing.

Me: Three or four t-shirts, and a couple pairs of shorts

Swmbo: the entire contents of her wardrobe, and never wears it all

We have the same size bags not large ones weather its a 3 day trip or 3 weeks and if we get low on clothes site laundry or boil up a kettle for a bit of clothes washing

Outside of the UK pretty much every service station and supermarket has a laundry. Put a wash on while you do a food shop, do the drying while you have lunch.

Water meter!! Pah! £240/yr water rates
Is that good? No idea what we pay nowadays, just know that we moved across to a water meter as soon as the kids left home and the bill halved.

And if you're lucky the Romanian lorry driver who used it before you may have left a complimentary pair of skiddies in the drum for you.....
