Temp guage not working

Hello could anyone advise on the following?

My 2004 1.9 t5 has an almost dead temp guage, it doesn’t move or it’ll move a couple of millimetres and drop.

I’ve changed the coolant temp sensor and it’s still the same.

Heater functions normally and top radiator pipe gets warm.

I’m waiting for a code reader to arrive to check the live reading to the cluster.

Has anyone had similar issues and resolved them?

Possible wiring issue under the front passenger bench set. Believe it or not a good cleaning of the connections and a shake will sometimes sort it out!.

It’s sorted now, it was the coolant temp sensor. I plugged an obd reader in on live data and the temp went up on the reader showing that the sensor and wiring was good. I hadn’t give it enough time to warm up when I first installed the guage.
