Has anyone successfully replaced telematics battery?

I recently replaced telematic battery in module J949 but kelps throwing up same fault code. Does anyone know if the battery needs coding or registering with VCDS as Carista resets the fault on the app but the warning triangle on the cluster remains and every time you restart the engine the fault is back.

Did you get this sorted? What product code is the replacement battery?

Hi, yes and no!

I couldn’t get the van to reset the battery so I don’t think it’s charging.

I did charge the battery away from the van so the fault cleared and I just need to monitor it to see how quickly the battery drains.

Ross tech we’re looking into why VCDS couldn’t reset the battery

Oh that's great news, and its been ok since the fault cleared? Is the battery 3G0915089B, mines a T6.1 2020.

Yes but I will need to charge it away from the van at some point or the fault will return. I’m hoping once a year

Hi, I made a 7v usb charger, cut the connector off and added crocodile clips to the ends so I could push pins in to the battery plug

It took a few hours to charge it but worked,

It is useful to add that the eCall battery contains two LiPo cells in series.

The nominal voltage on a LiPo cell is 3.7v, rising to 4.2v fully charged.

A power source of 8v will provide a faster charge and the eCall battery will register 90% plus when you reset the eCall battery history.

Maybe post where you got the charger from? Also if there is an 8V version, just in case others want to do this fix? 👍
