Yes I do enjoy the waving when in that area. I am from South Devon and strangely the response success rate is much lower these days. Trying to bring it back.

Van was broken in to.

They took some bits and pieces and made a mess.

Sorry this has happened to you. It's one of my biggest fears when away frpm the van walking or on a beach fishing. What was their method of entry. Often the damage they do is a greater cost that the stuff they nick.

We think they got the window down, there is a mark on it, the alarm didn’t go off, it was OK in the evening and we sleep about 20ft away with the van parked outside our house.
Trying to figure out what happened is tricky.
The mess they left is awful.
There has been a spate of thefts from vehicles in the area.
My neighbour is a police officer and he has a theory about the series of thefts.
Resetting the alarm and testing it, shows it to be working properly, so I am a bit stumped.
I keep finding other stuff gone, it’s funny what you leave in your van.
My mate @Deaks has donated a disklok to upgrade security.

Why does my phone make tones when I type in a reply?
Turn your phone to landscape mode, go to the top of the page and try tapping on the Christmas baubles. The sounds you hear are the same as the sounds you hear when typing a post. A little Christmas gift from forum admin. :)

How do I turn it off?

TEAM CHERRY RED:
Back end of last year I added 'Sand Ladders' to enable self rescue from wet muddy camping fields, snow, or beach. I've haven't had to use them yet as we've been parked up since Nov. Since converting the van 4 yrs ago I have had 2 flexable bonded solar panels on the van. Each panel lived long enough to just make it out of warrany before failing. This time I have bought roof rails with 3 cross bars and fitted them to my roof. Because my van has a pop top, measuring up, drilling and fitting roof rails needs to be done with care and caution. I then mounted a rigid 200kw Renogy Shadowflux solar panel to the cross bars and run the cables in via the same access point as used for the flexable panel. Using roof rails has raised the total hight of the van a tad and has slightly changed the profile ref any 2mt hight barriers but alliws a good airfliw under the panel wgen parjed up on hot sunny days. I have not noticed any additional wind noise when motoring and as I have mounted the solar panel as far to the rear as possible It's not made the roof any heavier to lift. The solar panel is banging out the charge even on the dullest of days.
