2x T6 updated tailgate struts (now fitted a Thule wander way 2x bike rack). Not sure what newtons req?

Let me know if any going?

Thanks in advance

Hi, is that the correct ones for tailgate? What are stock oem on the ‘n’ front do you know?
I think 900n is the stock tailgate. If you have a bike rack on there you can choose 1250n but I found these too tough (or the wife did as she hung off the boot while trying to close it). There are 985n which is I think what’s fitted to posh vans with a lot of panels etc on the tailgate (carvelle exec etc) but no bike rack. I can’t remember what I have fitted now (I have a VW bike rack) but I just sold the 985n I had so I know it’s not them.

So I guess I already have the ones you are selling.

With two bike rack they ‘almost hold’ the weight.

Guess I need to go higher but stop short of the 1200?

This is what is on. Anyone know what spec this code is? Have googled the number but just indicating generic struts

I can recommend the THQ uprated struts, 1250Nm or thereabouts if memory serves. Quite inexpensive, yet support my tailgate with spare wheel attached quite pleasantly.

Does anyone who has the Thule wander way rack know, it the key just spins in one of the locks on the arm. Do I look to replace the lock or the whole arm? I’ve mailed Thule to no avail

All Thule products have diagrams and parts lists online as far as I remember.

Thank you.

Yeah saw that. But just wondering if I need to just replace lock barrel or whole arm of lock doesn’t seem to lock? Thanks again

If it’s possible to strip it down do so and find out what failed. If the assembly just has a single part number you won’t be able to order separate parts anyway.

Thanks for reply.

Tried this with both locking knobs.

All seems intact inside so maybe worn mechanism.

Where I am now- Both spin freely. Lock engages and both continue to spin freely opening or closing jaws (I understand they should spin but when locked not engage the unwind mechanism).

So I think I need to order two more ‘acutite’ locking knobs and lock barrels. Does this sound about right?
