Uberbus HD Tailgate Struts T5-6.1.

I was wondering if anyone here is using a set of Uberbus HD Tailgate Struts ? and what your using them to support on your Tailgate ?

I have spent the last 3 weeks trying to contact Uberbus with my questions but their phone keeps ringing out and their not responding to emails ! which hardly fills me with confidence in their product or customer service !


I have a 2018 VW T6 with a Fiamma T6 Pro bike rack on the back that has a load rating of 60kg, with a set of Genuine VW uprated Gas Struts which we use to carry our 2 (quite old & heavy) E-Bike's which weigh about 52kg combined.
Since day one the uprated VW struts have struggled to cope with the load on the bike rack (we currently use a steel tent pole to keep the tailgate open)


Will the T5-6.1 HD Tailgate Struts make opening the tailgate easier and keep it open with approximately 50-55kg on it ?

And do the struts make the tailgate difficult to close with the E-Bike's off and no load on it ?

Do you use the tailgate (open / close) with the bikes mounted on the rack??

we currently use a steel tent pole to keep the tailgate open)

I think the pole method is far safer than trusting a strut.

Yes as most of the time its just far too much time & hassle to take the bikes off the rack just to get something out of the back !

Agreed the pole will stay in use regardless, but the initial lift of the tailgate is just a bit too much for the missus to handle, its ok once it gets to a certain point and the VW struts give it a boost.
