T6 so low suspension bump steer?

Hey fellas,

I’ve got a 2017 t6 multivan which has 20” wheels and solow nsl coilovers. They’re been installed for about 2 and a half years and I feel like it has pretty bad bump steer?
It’s had many wheel alignments and I’ve replaced factory bushes to power flex adjustable bushes from front to rear. But everything I hit a bump
It feels like it wants to steer one way or the other.

It also tracks pretty bad on the road.

Is there any companies that make a tie rod/ ball joint kit to correct the bump steer?
Any one got any ideas or do I just have to live with it..

Also what’s the best brand tyre 255/40R20. Not fussed about load/ speed ratings

The problem is the relationship between the point of axis of the lower arms and the point of axis of the track rod end. When I worked on Rally cars were would move the steering rack up or down to reduce bumper steer. I remember on the origin Mk3 Escorts the rear suspension would tow out during bump. This often resulted in the cars rear end coming round as the rear suspension was under compression. We has 3 cars rolled due to this issue, before the roll centre of the lower rear arm was repositioned.

Company's like VW spend millions on R&D to sort out the vehicles handling so it safe. Then people lower their vans, add wheel spacers, big wheels and tyres then wonder why it no longer handles correctly, suffer wheel bearing failures or veers across the road under heavy braking or a tyre blow out.

I suggest you remove the springs then re-assemble the suspension with out the springs, you can then assess how much the track of the wheel changes as the suspension travels from full droop to max compression. Then you will understand if there is a bump steering issue.

Problem is a manufacturer uses some fairly sophisticated software to make a commercial vehicle fit for purpose. Then somebody buys said commercial vehicle and realises what they really wanted was a Ferrari.
Suppliers and installers will keep feeding this fashion as long as there is demand (£), by all means do it but don’t expect a Ferrari or anything close to it.
