T6 Sliding Door Only Opens After Double Unlock – Fault or Feature?

Hi all,

I’ve got a Volkswagen Transporter T6 and I’ve noticed something odd with the sliding door.

It will only open if I press the unlock button on the key twice. If I just press it once, the sliding door stays locked and won’t open.

Just wondering if this is normal behaviour (like some kind of double unlock / selective unlocking feature), or if it sounds like a fault?

Thanks in advance for any help 👍

I had this, take door card off and spray wd40 in the actuator, there is a small hole in it ,also spray all catches on sliding door ,resolved my issue .

when locking on the remote fob.

on the VW T6 1st lock press will LOCK + DEADLOCK

2nd lock press will UNLOCK DEADLOCK.

The 1st unlock press should - UNLOCK DEADLOCK. + UNLOCK

Um. When auto lock above 5mph.

You need to relive the key from ignition for the door to auto unlock

Mine is basically the same if I have not used the van for a week or two, then settles back to normal once I've used the door a few times.

I had this on a T5 and on T5.1 work Van. Is to do with cargo space security and as these are all based on the van it may be the same thing. It was just so the driver could unlock front doors to get in & out without making side & rear doors vulnerable to scrotes wanting to nick whats inside. Handy thing for aviation security as well. But I cant for the life of me remember how I turned it off.
