T6 reversing camera and sensors no longer working

I’m looking for a bit of advice on my T6 reversing camera and parking sensors.

They started off being intermittent. At first I was getting warning beeps along with an error message, but now they’ve stopped working altogether. When I first select reverse, I get a loud alarm, but there’s no longer any error message and neither the camera nor the sensors are working.

Has anyone had this before, or can recommend the most likely cause? I’d be grateful for any advice on what to check first before I book it in.

Many thanks,
Duncan

You really need to get it scanned for fault codes.

More often than not the issue is a faulty parking sensor. A scan will tell you which one, and a new one fitted will fix the problem.

I had this recently; intermittant camera, parking sensors would not trigger, error messages then eventual failiure.

Turned out water got into the camera and screwed everything up. I cut the camera off and soldered on a new one.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay, I was away in the van.

Will my normal garage be able to scan for the fault codes or do I have to take it to a main dealer?

Thanks again,
Duncan

Cheers for that and sorry for the delay with a reply, I've been away in the van.

How did you know it was the camera rather than the sensors?

Many thanks,
Duncan

I actually tried 2 cameras, a cheaper one I had in the garage, and then a better one I bought and fitted once I proved the camera was the fault.

I also noticed moisture in the lens in the weeks before it eventually died.

Cheers for that. Hopefully the local garage will be able to tell me the fault code.

I’m in no way an auto electrician, but if your camera was the fault, maybe disconnecting it from the back of the unit might eliminate it from the equation? See if the parking sensors work then.
