Hi there
Interested in opinions.... I've had both a T5 and T6. T5 has been great, T6 not so much.. A lot of ad blue related issues, on top of that it was a bi ti as opposed to my 140 t5 manual. Anyway im trawling for another to replace the T6 lemon... Swore id never have another, and up to this point have just been searching for a T5.1 140 manual, but whilst looking, a couple of T6 Euro 5 140s have come up; so I was wondering what your opinions were - The T6 is a year younger; but is the build quality on the bodywork etc the same?

Can’t comment on the bodywork but what I’ve gleaned over reading various threads is that people think the Euro 5 engine is more reliable than the euro 6 and that the T6 handles/rides better than the T5. Having said that loads of folks still upgrade their T6 suspension so it’s probably not a decider.

Personally I prefer the T5.1 looks wise but the I am biased as I own one.

You should accidentally but a T6 that's had an ad blu delete 😁
If/when this stuff starts getting looked at more closely during MOTs* or for insurers to get out of paying then, as with any law, ignorance is no defence.

*Might never happen of course.

Still got the EGR and DPF to consider too remember. And if it’s not been done properly it seems to cause more issues.
Buying one that never had any of that guff strapped to it in the first place would be more reliable/less risky.

Yes I must admit I prefer the look of the T5.1 too; was just wondering if I was missing something with the early hybrid

Euro 5 180ps, I sorted the EGR engine grinder at an early stage and it’s now perfect. I’ve never owned a Euro 6 VW but I’ve seen how VW have reduced production costs and how it’s affected reliability.
It’s cheaper for me to pay the occasional environmental charge than the Ablue and related grief.
Closest city to me is Plymouth, I avoid like the plague now, if it introduces an environmental zone it will collapse.

I’ve got a euro5 140 been remapped to about 180 since it was 3 yrs old and it’s never missed a beat unlike my mates euro 6 caddy

6.1.

A better drive, ULEZ cuddly, less prone (albeit not immune) to the AdBlue and DPF issues of the 6, no PAS pump issues likenthe 5 and 6, and good low mileage ones are holding their value stunningly well at the moment.

Someone will inevitably be along in a minute to advise you're less of a man if you dont get a LWB.

^^^ This.

This 👇👇👇

40cm lighter.

40cm less drag makes for a more slippery and efficient drive.

I get everywhere 40cm quicker than a LWB

Quicker to wash

Less distance to walk to the back saving time and energy better spent on writing elitist comments on forums in regards to my superiority

Less likely to get lost inside the van in poor light

A SWB is much harder to fold in half making it much safer when driving near lamp posts and totem poles

Less chance of reversing into stationary objects in a SWB

Less chance of grounding out when driving over someones firepit/toilet tent/pet llama

LWB's aren't good enough to have a nick name unlike shortys.

Sorry
