T6 OEM Stereo not switching on or off with ignition

The stereo in my T6 has developed an irritating fault where it no longer switches on or off with the ignition.

It’s the original headunit so no mods etc. I’ve removed it from the dash to check all the cables are connected etc. behind and can’t see any issue.

I’ve checked all the fuses below the gear lever, they’ve all tested ok (no fuses under the passenger seat).

Tried a soft reset / holding the power button in for 10-15 seconds, also tried disconnecting the battery to see if that would restore it, but nope. Only way it will switch on or off is manually from the power button.

Anyone else had similar issue or any idea what else I can check?
T6 Highline Kombi.

I have a similar issue that I have not solved yet sorry. Initial diagnosis from my regular garage and Davtec was that the ignition switch was worn but replacing that hasn’t solved it.

Do your overhead cab lights come on when you remove the key? Mine don’t (they used to) and I suspect it is related to the headunit issue too.

Hmm good point - I hadn’t noticed actually as it’s been daylight when I’ve been trying to sort this but have just been out to check and whilst the cab lights come on when I unlock the van and go off when I start the engine, they don’t come on when I switch off and remove the key so it’s clearly not recognising the key being removed.

The only other thing I can think of is that I had a low battery warning for the ignition key a couple of times a few months back but it was only once or twice and didn’t reappear and hasn’t recently either.

I’ll try dig out my spare key n see if there’s any change with that.

So I've tried my spare key - same issue. Stereo doesn't recognise the ignition going on or off and the cab lights don't react either.

You say you had the ignition barrel replaced?

I would think the ignition barrel switch pack would be the first place to start.

You can use vcds to check the ignition switches.

There are four sets of switches, they main be a problem with one or more.

Id start there.

There are four switches?
I’ve just read elsewhere that the ignition switch (not the barrel) may be the cause. Googling that brings up a £15-20 switch with a single multiplug connector which seems easy (and cheap) enough to replace…

Ignition switch
Yes. Inside the switch pack are multiple switches..

Key in.
Acc1
Acc2
Crank/start.

Maybe one is more have an issue?

Ah getchya - I thought you meant there may be four of those ignition switches I linked to. I’ll do some more digging this evening and order a replacement switch depending what a VCDS scan comes up with.
