T6 Headlights .....................

So there have been a few threads on how rubbish the standard lights are ............. are there ANY proven ways to make them brighter that doesn't involve a loan from your bank?

You could start with some brighter lamps...

I have tried various brighter bulbs, LED Dell's etc and yes they do provide a whiter brighter light but make little difference to the night vision. Basically the H4's are garbage. Fitted some caravelle twin reflector H7's this week and they are a massive improvement, I would definitely recommend them. In the long run a second-hand pair of H7's won't cost much more than trying different sets of bulbs. Probably the best upgrade I have made to the van.

If i was to look to buy second hand H7s to fit a T6 Highlone panel van off ebay what should i search for? Will they generally be described as Caravelle lights or anything else?

It varies but caravelle is one one of the descriptions. I just searched for T6 headlights and had a look at the photos. The H7's have a chrome rim around the whole of the outer edge. Some sellers show the bulb label on the rear of the light which states H7.

They are, I bought mine from that seller. I think he may be a converter as he readvertises as soon as one set sells. Mine arrived within 48hrs and are in as new condition.

Is any coding required ? Or is it just a straight swap over

They need coding to keep the low beam on with the High beam, mine haven't been coded yet but are still far better than the H4's.

For info I also bought and fitted these bulbs from Powerbulbs, GT Ultra 120 H7 (Twin). They are on offer and buy one get one free so 4 bulbs for about £16 delivered which was ideal as you need 4 × bulbs for the H7's.

From memory is byte 23 bit 2. A quick forum search will bring up the result as it's very well documented on here.
