Just had a message from Microsoft Edge to say my forum password has been "leaked". Any knowledge? It was not reported when scanned earlier.

Nothing i know of,

But you can change your password in the settings to be sure.

Does Edge give you any more info or background ?

It’s a generic warning, any email/password combos that have been leaked are warned about so it’s telling you the password you entered has been leaked somewhere (not necessarily here)

I can categorically state I am aware of nothing that needs attention and we actively block access to our webserver from everything but a couple white listed IP addresses and always maintain security updates and security religiously so I am confident to say we have no breach and no security issues

If anyone is concerned I would advise to change your passwords but this should only really be an issue if you reuse passwords on multiple sites

I logged into the forum just now on Edge (don’t normally use that route) and didn’t get a similar message.

Hi @widu13. So edge is saying your username and password combination is found on leaked password list.

Was the username/password used here the only place you used that username/password (which would suggest a possible breach here) or have you used the same username/password combination on other sites too?

Edge will only have checked the password. (let me rephrase that) only one needs to match to trigger this and can sometimes match a simple password if you or anyone else has used it.
@widu13 now you have changed it, what was the old password? (so I can run it against other checkers)

Irrespective of any leaks on any sites, use a password manager and unique password for every site.

LastPass, 1Password, Kaspersky, Google Password etc.
