T6 2016 Unlocking Issues

Hi, I have a 2016 T6 that has developed some unlocking issues... when unlocking the van the cab doors unlock fine, however the side door and the rear (tailgate on mine) don’t. After about 9 or 10 attempts of unlocking then locking again in quick succession I would eventually get both to unlock. However now the tailgate doesn’t unlock at all, and only the side door intermittently. When the side door doesn’t unlock I have tried using the key manually but that doesn’t even work either. Any suggestions or same experiences would be welcomed...

Cheers

Not sure if it would solve it but I sometimes had to press the unlock button on my fob a few times to unlock all doors
The drivers door would open on the 1st press and all others (should) open on the 2nd press, however I used to have to press mine several times with my Mrs tugging on the handle

I've had the settings altered on vcds so that all doors unlock on the 1st press.....so much better - should be like that from the factory in my opinion

Maybe the same would work for you, if not there must be a fault with your locks

Do you have any errors logged? A few times I have unlocked from the fob and the side door hasn’t opened but it’s always unlocked second time of asking. It seemed to occur when it was really cold so I wondered if that was linked to the issue but it’s not reoccurred since. I did notice however that there was a fault code logged for it so it obviously tried to unlock and failed. I think this along with the cold could mean that maybe the lock mechanism is a bit stiff.

My electric doors play up when it's really cold. Sometimes they won't unlock, sometimes the will unlock, but won't open with the remote, dash buttons or a gentle pull on the door handle. If they are unlocked, they will open will a firm pull on the handle, as if they were manual doors tho'. Once they have opened, they'll work properly for the rest of the day then.

Thanks. Yes I know about the 2nd press on the fob, unfortunately it doesn’t work even after several attempts.

Thanks for your comment. I think I might need to get it linked upto a fault finder if it’s electrical, however haven’t had any dashboard errors.

Thanks for your comment. Temperature has been ok recently so unsure it could be that which is a factor. Pressing the unlock in the cab doesn’t even unlock them. It’s ok if I get access to the side door as then I have access but then restricted as can’t open the tailgate internally... unless I am being silly and haven’t spotted an internal unlock for it

Several times I had similar problems. Sometimes it was the back doors,( barn doors), sometimes the side sliding door. I had it in under warranty a couple of times and they changed the lock mechanism. It would be ok for a while then I got the problem again. Since I greased all the locks a while back it has never happened again. Originally it would happen every couple of days and could take around 15 minutes to get the doors to open, not great when you are a self employed carpenter at a customers house,( I had tried the trusted flicking the handle the opposite way then pulling to open but it didn’t work). I assume it had something to do with not sitting properly when closed due to friction since it’s been months since I greased it and it’s never come back........tomorrow I just know I am going to get the old problem again after pushing my luck with this comment...
