T6.1 Transporter 30mm lowering options

I'm new to the VW T6 scene having just bought a new T6.1 Transporter campervan conversion based on a SWB T28. I am looking to lower by 30mm but am struggling to understand what options are open to me as the Eibach Pro ones seem to be indicating they aren't compatible with the T6.1 (possibly due to the new leveling control?). I've read that previously the Caravelle springs were an option as they are lower but again can't find any confirmation on T6.1 models. Can anyone shed some light on this please?

We can supply a specific 6.1 lowering spring from Eibach. It's the comfort option so a much nicer ride compared to the original 30mm sportline version. Also has an adjustable rear cup to set the ride height and pitch according to the payload or lack of it and your desired preferences.
A very nice lowering spring set, used these for months on our previous demo T6 Demo.
2 kits available in the comfort option for the 6.1 depending on your front axle weights. There is also a Max Low version for fuller drops.
PM us if you need any further info.
Here's the link if anyone interested:

Regards

Brett

The H&R springs are a few weeks away from being available . the only difference between the T 6 and T6.1 is the lower pigtail of the front spring , it now sits in a rubber / plastic mounting , THE H&R springs will have the normal 4 models to suit all the different load rating .
What you need to consider is the following , If you dont like the ride after fitting T 6.1 springs you will struggle to find a T 6.1 shock for quite a while because the big shock companies wont produce them straight away .
Options 1 Buy a T6 Shock / spring combo . this fits straight in and comfort levels really high even at 40 mm drops ,
Option 2 Buy t 6.1 springs and if the ride isnt great remove the springs and go to option 1 or
Option 3 Buy a height adjustable kit that will fit straight in

@Chilli Jam Vans supply the only T6.1 specific springs on the market, so if this is your budget, Brett is your man. We can fit if you are near to us.

But also dependant on which way you want to go, we can also offer tried and tested coilover kits from KW, ST, Eibach, SoLow and Bilstein, so can offer lots of advice and information for your needs. We are also a dealer for twin-projekt, from Chilli. Coilovers , although more expensive than springs, offer height adjustment, and varying levels of comfort and handling dependant on which kit you go for. We offer the complete demo and fitting service, from our site in Bognor Regis. Every kit we fit comes with a full 4 wheel alignment, which I know not all carry out . We've lowered quite a few 6.1s now, so happy to talk through your options. All of our kits come as a mail order option as well, for your local fitter to do the job.

As and when it becomes available, and Im told they won't be long, I would recommend an ARB upgrade, works really well on a top heavy camper.

I always say with suspension, please try and drive the suspension you are buying beforehand. What someone tells you is best, is only their opinion, and their definition of comfortable or sporty will be different to yours.

Good luck in your search, and enjoy your camper - This forum can and will cost you money ;-)

Yesterday VW have quoted me to fit Eibach 30mm Sportline springs to my T6.1.... Do you think they may have made a mistake?

I haven't seen a set of 30mm Eibach 6.1 specific springs yet. Potentially they are now available, but double check that they have the extra rubber at the bottom.
If not, go for the Eibach Comfort Adjustables. Far better spring anyhow.

I've just written back to VW Van center to ask if they've made a mistake... To be honest it's sounding like a much better option to go the Eibach Comforts so will probably go down that route.

The 30mm springs are in their brochure for the T6.1 now. But the ‘comfort’ springs will be better better option for going springs only.

We have stock of the 40 mm H&R springs specifically for the T 6.1 £295.00 a set I have 4 in stock at the moment . Comfort is a function of the shock absorber not a spring , Springs carry the weight of the vehicle Shocks control all the movement and this is where we can improve comfort a lot !!!

Does anyone know the technical/mechanical reason the original 30mm sportline springs aren't compatible with the 6.1? I'm assuming it's a different suspension setup but nice to understand why.. Thanks in advance!

The shock also has a very slight difference in the spring seat , there are 2 support tabs for the lower spring coil , instead of one on the older T 6 T 5 shock . the purpose of this change was to try and limit road noise which is a big problem on the Transporters . A quality after market shock will limit road noise a lot , it is the first thing clients notice normally .

Hi, I am new here. Just bought a new T6.1 Kombi T32 DSG. I love it but wanted to get 20” wheels instead of the standard 17”. Bought and got fitted today the 20” Cades Hera wheels with tyres and the bouncy ride has got better. But the van looks odd. The gap between the top of the tyre and the bottom of the wheel arch is too high. Problem is I did not want to lower the van and wanted the comfort which the new van provides. Can I achieve a lower height without compromising ride? Forgive me if this is a newbie error but just looking for some advice.

Welcome to the forum, there's probably hundreds of threads on here with regards to springs/suspension etc. And it can be a minefield.
Reach out to some of the specialists on here as per @Dellmassive’s post

You can lower it slightly by changing shocks and springs and this will be more comfortable than standard at a lower ride height , There are various ways to do it , but i would say avoid coil overs which is what most suppliers want you to buy from them .
