Hi, I am no mechanic but need to change the stop start batter on my T6.1.

It doesn’t look like a difficult task, but are there any pitfalls with doing it yourself, is it simply undoing the terminals and replacing or will there be other things need doing post replacement.

It needs coding in...

.

I checked the battery today I have 12.6v standing and 14v with the engine running which would suggest the battery is ok.

I have on two occasions over the past 2 months had a battery low warning flash up when starting the van. On both occasions driving less than 30 miles each time the message goes away. My first thought was the battery. But maybe it is not.

The van does stand unused most of the week, and depending on where I am fishing my journeys are generally short.

If it’s not the battery then what else could be giving me this warning and would something like carista help me diagnose remembering I’m a van noob and generally a mechanical moron

Get a BM2 from Amazon. It allows you to monitor the battery over time and download via Bluetooth. That will give you a good insight into what the battery is doing.

Do they need coding if you're swapping like for like?
Ideally yes.

However, the smart alternator is, er, smart and over the course of several hundred miles will notice a new battery and should do its own adaption and alter the charging profile to suit. Key word there is should.

You will also need to reset the learning for the single touch window up and down, and maybe clock, but all pretty easy.
