T6.1 stereo upgrade to Apple car play

Hey legends,

I have a T6.1 ( I think startline base vehicle) and the stereo is very basic and does not support Apple Car Play and wondered what the cheapest option is to get Car Play in the van please?

I've seen online that due to the SOS feature, there is a need to buy certain models of stereo, however mine does not have the SOS button so I don't think I need to worry about that.

Are you sure you haven’t got CarPlay?? As far as I was aware all 6.1’s had CarPlay as standard.

Just read the post again and also thought all 6.1 had SOS. are you sure it’s a 6.1? What year is it?? Is it a import?

HA! This is a very, very good point. I think I'd assumed it was a T6.1 as it's a 2020 registration with a 69 plate, and I was certain it was marketed as a 6.1 but clearly it's a T6!

Thanks for the help, I suppose then the question is the same about Apple Car play but for a T6!

I think a T6 might be slightly easier than a 6.1 but I assume you still need to keep the settings menus on the radio. @Absolut5 or @Dav-Tec are the experts on this stuff.

I have T6 2016 Startline with basic head unit with no sat nav ,Steering wheel controls or reverse camera and looking for an improvement on this head unit..Its a minefield out there with so many brands etc etc ..I'm not wanting nothing to fancy

You have to be careful as a large percentage of even the bug branded manufactures are now Chinese units rebranded, give it poor reliability, cheap looking user interface and lower build quality, we avoid these units for reasons above.

Thanks for the great advise..it's not easy knowing what to go for .Having watched YouTube videos for all sorts of head units from top branded ones to Chinese ones costing around, £140..Also with a range of speck ..As you said the rebranded Chinese ones..Its a gamble at times knowing what is best to do .
