T6.1, how good or bad is the standard head unit?

A Few questions. I'm thinking of ordering a new T6.1 and have a few questions about the standard head unit, mainly how good or bad is the sound quality, whats the DAB signal like (is it as bad as the old T6?) will it require another aerial fitting? I intend on fitting/upgrading the front speakers and fitting rear speakers and sound deadening the doors etc, but I've got used to my Pioneer head unit and it's much improved sound quality, and hoping not to have to outlay too much initially to get something acceptable.

I will be installing insulation and deadening throughout also and a bulkhead, and new shocks and springs to get the most comfortable ride when I can figure out which ones to go for.

The DAB signal is just as bad and the sound is average. Upgrade the speakers + insulation would definitely help.
I don’t use the dab now and use my iPhone (CarPlay) for Spotify or internet radio apps.

My T6 DAB gives a much, much more solid signal then my Pure Highway in the Pug. The sound quality is perfectly ok for me, many DAB stations are 64k bitrate mono anyway and the very best Hi Fi setup possible cant change that ;)
Spotify on mobiles is 96Kbit so hardly Hi Fi either!

Does anyone know if the DAB aerial is still in the wing mirror? and @Phil G are you talking about a T6 or T6.1?

Pretty sure you can change that Soptify quality.

It's going to look even better when I stick a Shark fin dab aerial on the back as well.

I always thought the DAB reception in the 'standard' T6 Composition Colour unit in mine was very, very poor until I followed tips here on T6F and changed my 12V USB adapters - since then, although I still get the occasional signal drop out, it never lasts very long.

Soooo..... to return to this thread, apart from installing a new aerial, new front speakers and sound deaden the doors, what would be the best way to improve the sound quality? I'm also going to fit rear speakers, but I'd like a bit of proper bass, so powered sub or under seat sub and small amp?

I’ve got a 6.1 with the composition colour and I’ve just fitted a pioneer underseat sub and it’s made a massive difference to the sound. I’ve turned the base down on the head unit so most of the base comes from the sub which has eased the strain on the standard door speakers. I’m guessing it’s not up the the same standard as the @Absolut5 upgrades but it’s really improved things.

Add a amp to drive the front speakers and a sub in a custom underseat enclosure
