So... mid journey at the moment to the north coast of Scotland. (Done the nc500) doing a tour of Sunderland. Got to Beauly near Inverness. Thought id top up with fuel. Pulled out the garage and the van started jerking forward . Braked. It was fine. Then 5 warnings on the digital display. (Esc, hill start, abs amongst others).Plus power steering went. Drove on for a bit. Breaks were fine. Engine fine. At speed handling was better with power steering. Stopped. Switched engine off. Cleared. Opened bonnet and shut (heard this often resets problem). Set off this morning. Start/stop error added to list. Drive on. Stopped switched everything off. Told.me to release handbrake before id engaged a gear. Opened and shut bonnet. Now only stop/start malfunction left.. Saw similar issues due to bumps etc. And battery (my battery lives on charger when notnused). Any ideas? Im suspecting wheel sensor or abs sensor?

I had exactly the same problem today. I also had an error, reverse parking sensors and camera unavailable. Popped into a hop came out started the van and everything disappeared ! I am waiting for it to reappear . If it does and I find a cause I will post it.

So update - I also lost reverse parking sensors and cruise control in addition to the faults mentioned above. The faults cleared after an overnight stop and lifting and shutting the bonnet, but reappeared once the vehicle did more than 10 mph. The jerking motion only occurred just before the malfunctions came up, and when there was no throttle being applied. Almost like the brakes were going on and off. A fellow camper suggested that it may be the battery has had it - apparently only lasts 5 years or so on T6.1's. Whilst the voltage seems fine (been on a trickle charger) I am now back home, and charging it again. Will see if that clears it after charging a couple of days - then i know its probably the battery.

Apparently it does so in any vehicle *in average*. My personal rule is one can expect 4 good winters, but the 5th you are at risk.
This includes not only vans, that may see intermittent use, but also our everyday's drive Fiat Panda / Mecedes A klasse, all with top brand batteries.

Wow - I have a 2016 BMW with 160,000 on the clock still with the original battery!

OK, let me say that again, and I won't debate this further:
*IN AVERAGE*

Maybe winters are more forgiving in UK than in AT/CH , but I guess only marginally so.
I have the same experience on sealed acid accumulators on UPS, BTW. I think it is just a fact of life for Pb batteries. In a car it makes a lot of economic sense, since it costs less than a full tank nowadays. Also you may not change more than two batteries during the period you own the car, and many other maintenace costs will dwarf that.
Less so in an industrial UPS, where the batteries can be well over 50% of the equipment price.

Update - new (coded) battery, same faults. Tested the alternator and that seems to be the problem. Noticed on other threads that broken wires below the alternator can be a common fault. Will keep the thread posted....
