T6.1 Discover Media Pro retrofit?

I know people remove them and fit aftermarket stereos.

Could I buy a used one and retrofit in a Cali that has Discover Media?

Or do they have to be coded to the vehicle etc.

I didn’t. I sold the T6.1 and went back to a T6
