My thoughts were though, what about Range Rovers and Discovery’s, they are almost 2.5 tons without anything in the back?? And can tow 3.5 tons...assuming they have a puncture while towing??? Just a thought and that’s what made me think of the possibility.

Yep see your train of thought, mine was along the lines of the transit van etc, as the t6, especially the '32, is after all based if not classed as a commercial vehicle, and has a load of space for its spare, whilst the others are cars with limited space, and a desire to keep the unladen weight down.. Better off buying a spare lock, armour plate do a very good one..

AS previously mentioned Land/Range Rover space saver is an option but you would have to carry 5 conversion bolts (VW ones aren't suitable) to fit it onto the VW hub plus a spigot ring to match up the centre.
